Lol, I think that there's an apostasy in our area....heard anything about it?
M
.
i have it on good authority that at the recent circuit assembly it was announced from the platform that there had been reports of groups of families and friends getting together to study on family worship night and that this was not to continue as fwn is for families only and not for other brothers and sisters to get involved in.. oh, and if you live alone, then you have to study on your own, you alone are your family, you are not to join anyone else's fwn (although i'm sure they didn't mean you couldn't join your blood family's fwn....).
the level of control never ceases to amaze me...... .

IMO it is about restriction of free thought and free speech, nothing more.
Let me give you an example. I would hardly ever go to Thurs night meetings as I had resigned from the school and didn't go out in the Service so saw no need for me to even bother going on a thursday as both meetings were a waste of my time.
However the Book study was held in my parents house so I would go along most weeks mainly to see them. The book that was being studied just before I left was the Revelation climax book. Doing this book for what felt like the 10th time was torture(as were the explanations therein) so, to amuse myself, I would give deliberately "apostate" views on certain issues but not overtly so.
The elder that was taking the "study", let's call him brother Green, didn't even know that what I was saying wasn't JW doctrine!!!!
I wonder how many left the study thinking that what they just heard was "the truth"
I always used to get commended on my "knowledge" and great comments.
I wonder if the ability of ones such as myself to get away with that un-checked led aloong with unknown legal factors led ultimately to the downfall of the book study?

i was speaking to a family member who is still a jw in very good standing and she told me that last week she was told by an elder of very good repute in my old congregation this:-.
he has been told that any of the current governing body when they die will not be replaced!!!!!!!!!!.
i cannot even begin to take this in!.
FAO Besty.
Here, here, Scotland is the berries. Think of all the great inventions. The TV ,telephone, Football, golf, deep-fried mars bars.......
This forum wouldn't even exist without the Scots eh?
lol thanks for giving me my props too
On your point about the late great C.T. love muscle , his family is of Scottish and Irish descent so I guess we're to blame for the bad as well as the good.......
Although I reckon he would probably have played for the republic if he was any good at football.

@jws
Is Harry Potter real?
No.
Is the wts God's channel on earth?
No.
JK Rowling has written book after book, she makes it up as she goes along. Whatever she wants to happen in the story happens.
It's the same with the wts. They make it up as they go along too and like Ms Rowling they have become very rich doing so.
People buy her books and read them as an escape from reality. To the people in this cult it is real though, it IS their life and they will believe whatever they read next.
So whether this is true or not the wts remain in ultimate control of the minds and lives of the reader/believer.
At least the Harry Potter books make some coherent sense , probably more believable too.......

Lol I'm not from Scotland?
Hahaha.
I have something to hide? lol
Check out my blog deathorobedience.blogspot.com.
I have nothing to hide or any reason to be dishonest. It might be true it might not, I'm only reporting what I heard.
Matt.
new to this and as a nonbeliever i would like to ask how many people lost their belief in a god after leaving the wts.
what opened your eyes?
what made the light get brighter?
Does anyone else notice Reniaa often pops into a good thread with something that is either :-
A. A red herring
B. Off topic.
C. meaningless s**t stirring
It's like when you are enjoying a nice meal and halfway through you find a hair in it.........

@ watson
"End game: They have some 50 plus year olds on the Gov Body now. That gives them about 40 years to to wind down to the end. Wow, another 40 years. That's a long time to be on the alert."
@ NINJA
Lol just don't tell my local elders in my new church I might get viewed as a weak one and not get any privs....
My thinking on the matter is similar to watson. The mrs and I were talking about it last night and figured the same, true or not it gives them another half a decade to delude the R'n'F a little more.
As someone else stated they could easily change the position if they needed to in the future.
Here is another way of looking at it:
Suppose the scenario is the same as a factory that's in financial trouble and the workforce are given the oppertunity to take over the operation and run it themselves? The workers are much less likely to diss the factory and what it is producing and would work harder and be more loyal, not wanting to leave for another job elsewhere.
Now we already know that the writing committees are made up of "other sheep" and the material written is only approved by the GB right?
The president is already OS although just in a legal setting.
They are already telling the elders they are the "glorious ones" and will be the "chieftain class" which engenders a sense of importance and the feeling you are kind of running the show at a local level. Why would an elder want to jump ship and jeopardise this wonderful position?
Perhaps they figure that if there is no real discernable difference between who's doing the teaching and who's being taught all the JW's will think "hey we're all in this together" let's all pull in the same direction( a bit like a slave ship say....)
It could go back to being the same way they presented the NWT to the public , a faceless bunch of unaccountable guys who you can't direct any anger toward.
I mean no man ever hated his own flesh did he? It was one "us the OS. THAT WROTE IT!!"

Yes I was thinking it smacked of the "African" but I did not detect any BS. and I wouldn't post it if was clear that it was completely groundless.
I do think it's entirely possible that it could be true, but what's their end-game?

i am starting the thread to provide a place for everyone tell their reasons for hating the watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc.. first off i want to say, i do not hate jehovah's witnesses.
i hate the wtbts; because, they kill people with their lunatic blood policy and destroy families with shunning.. my mother at age 48, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
the tumor could have been removed with surgery; but, that would have required blood so it didn't happen.
The Bible says hate what is bad.
The WTBS have proven over their history that they encompass all that is bad when "man dominates man to his injury" through the "teachings" of this malignant ulcer on the underbelly of the Christian faith.
That is why I for one hate this organisation and much of what it stands for.

Is this perhaps the beginning of the wts starting to wind down it's high control status and become like a mainstream Christian outfit?
Or conversely is it the latest ploy to make the R'n'F believe that the end is indeed near!!!
They have no more dates set for the near future for the end of the system so do they figure that if they say the GB are the last in line before the big "A" then all the JW's will be energised?
What do you guys think?
